iRest Yoga Nidra
A journey into ease, well-being and consciousness
One Day Workshop
February 24 2018
The course will be delivered by:
James Reeves is one of Europe’s leading yoga nidra experts. He specialises in iRest (‘Integrative Restoration) Yoga Nidra having studied extensively with the protocol’s founder, Richard C. Miller, PhD. James was responsible for bringing iRest Yoga Nidra teacher training to Europe in 2014 and is the Integrative Restoration Institute’s Director of Europe.
He has been a practising yoga teacher since 2005 after completing his first teacher training at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Centre in Kerala, India. After training with Mukunda Stiles in 2006 he qualified as a Structural Yoga Therapist and has since continued to study with countless leading teachers of hatha yoga, yoga nidra and meditation from all over the world.
As well as running his own regular yoga classes, workshops and retreats combining hatha yoga, yoga nidra, philosophy and meditation, James works one-one with clients who are recovering from a multitude of mental health issues such as birth trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse and depression, as well as injury and other physical ailments, and even pre-award ceremony nerves at the Oscars for one of his more high-profile clients.
He teaches yoga nidra at triyoga London and regularly guest-teaches elsewhere within yoga studios and therapeutic and corporate settings across Europe. James is also a regular teacher on Ekhart Yoga Online.
Whether running a workshop, delivering a programme of video classes or teaching privately, James is always focused on helping us to live the essence of our true nature: welcoming, open, spacious and free from judgment and conditioning.
“James has been the most amazing teacher. Not only am I fitter and more flexible but also I feel better balanced, mentally and emotionally." - Emma Watson, Actress and UN Ambassador
"James' heartfelt gentleness and masterful wisdom shine through in his teachings. His expertise lies in his ability to light the path for others to find their own way." - Richard Miller, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Author, Researcher and Yogic Scholar
“James took me on a journey where I was able to uncover parts of myself I hadn’t even been aware of and the change in my thought patterns and behaviour and the way I see myself since returning home has been huge.”
- Natalie Edwards, Coach & Mentor
“I have come away from this training deeply resourced and with a grounded sense of knowledge and confidence of how to share this transformative practice with others.”
- Jahna Clark, Yoga Teacher & Somatics Exercise Coach
“James created a wonderfully nurturing environment in which he skilfully led us on our own deep, meditative journeys that took my heart home to my soul self. I left feeling calm, rested, restored and re-purified. I found a whole new relationship with myself and my emotions - and words are not enough to express my gratitude to James for creating the space for this to blossom.”
- Anne-Marie Frohock, Dietician
“Quite possibly one of the most important weekends of my life.”
- Joel Segura, Restful Being retreat attendee Italy 2017
“I can't begin to tell you the difference you have made in my life! For a long time I have felt that I had lost the true me but through your teaching, encouragement and understanding I am slowly finding the inner peace and happiness which have been so very elusive to me.”
- Gill Bath, Restful Being retreat attendee Italy 2017
“Going on retreat with James was a beautiful experience that will stay with me as a deep reminder of the power of just resting in being. His skill, knowledge and compassion to hold a wonderful safe space is a delight to be savoured.”
- Paul Collins, Beyond Yoga
“This retreat was an exceptional experience; I came away feeling rested in body and soul in a way I hadn't for years. The teaching was rigorous and compassionate, the company sympathetic and harmonious, the setting a lyrical and dramatic backdrop. The fruit of it continues to ripen.”
- Alyson Price, retreat attendee 2016

The day begins at 08am and finishes at 5pm
A practical and theoretical exploration of ‘iRest (‘integrative restoration) Yoga Nidra’ – a secular adaptation of the practice, supported by a body of research proving its effectiveness, and used in a broad range of therapeutic settings the world over.
During the day we will:
• Examine the meaning of ‘yoga nidra’ and the stages of consciousness that the practice allows us to explore
• Look at what differentiates iRest from traditional forms of yoga nidra
• Learn about sleep, restoration and what happens when we remain aware as our body falls in to deep rest
• Practise yoga nidra for ourselves after each theoretical sharing, allowing you to integrate your understanding in to your own experience.
The course is suitable for:
This workshop is suitable for everyone, including those who are simply curious about the practice of yoga nidra, those who are interested in iRest specifically, anyone wanting to explore the technique for their own healing and self-inquiry, as well as those planning on sharing the technique in their own teaching/therapeutic setting.
